North Georgia Super Regional Recap

🏁North Georgia Super Regional – Cumming, GA - April 2, 2022
🏁Track : North Georgia Quarter Midget Racing Association
🏁Miles : 1040
🏁Hours : 19 hours

We traveled south for the first of the national series Super Regional race in Cumming, GA, with over 225 cars in attendance. This year Jonathon is running Senior Animal, which had a total of 19 cars and Light 160 with a total of 24 cars. Jonathon has never raced here and we came not having much information on set up. We were able to do a controlled 2 minute practice on Friday night.

Senior Animal: Jonathon got a P1 in Heat 2 and ended in P3. That placed him P4 in the B main. During the B main he had fallen to the back of the pack at the start. P4 is probably the worst position to start in and he wheeled his way up to a P2 finish. This put him P8 in the A Main. The A mains were held off until Sunday morning.  He battled mid pack and he and another car got tangled up and Jonathon got into the wall, literally, the wall had to be lifted up off of the left side of the car. No signs of significant damage, he rolled back out and fought hard to keep up with the pack. He ended respectively in P8. At this level of racing, we couldn’t be more proud of the driver he is becoming. Our goal is to learn from every race and how to drive hard and clean!

Light 160: This wasn’t our weekend in the Light 160. Jonathon took Heat 2 with a start of P5 and ended in P4 . That finish landed him in the C main in P2. In the C, after battling for P4 the entire race, with multiple restarts with one lap to go the top 5 cars got in a cluster, making a huge upset to the top 5. Jonathon landed in the P5 spot and was the X car for the B main. That brings us to Saturday night; the B main had a smooth start and we didn't have the chance to get in. That was the end for us in Light 160. I believe that makes him 17 for light 160 out of 24.

Overall, we had a great weekend, it went quick! A big shout out to the Dixie Shootout and North Georgia; the entire weekend felt organized and focused on the kids! Job well done!  Thank you to Brittany, Ryan, Memphis, Jordan and Kali for joining us in this adventure. We are blessed to have such amazing support from our family!

We would like to thank our 2022 sponsors! With the rising costs of fuel and Hoosier tires we can’t even begin to express what the support of our sponsors does for us. Without them we would not be able to provide Jonathon with the opportunities that we do.

Next stop North Carolina "Carolina Clash" April 15th!
